5+1 quick home remedies for headaches

5+1 quick home remedies for headaches

There are thousands of possible causes of headaches. But when you're in pain and can't focus on anything, you're usually not looking for the cause, but for a quick and effective way to treat your headache. Here are some healthy and simple home remedies.

But before the sure-fire tips, we have a "zero" piece of advice. When we ask the question, "What should I do for a headache?", it's always worth looking a little beyond the symptoms.

What can hurt?

Because a headache relief method can only be really effective if it is used in the right situation. If you are prone to headaches, it is advisable to live your everyday life more consciously, so that when an uninvited guest knocks on the door, you can quickly prevent the pain and not spend hours or even days treating your headache. Once you get the hang of it, you will also learn how to prevent the causes of headaches and the unpleasant suffering they cause.

Causes of headaches can include stress, low blood pressure or fluctuating blood sugar levels, dehydration, vitamin deficiencies, sedentary work, reduced oestrogen levels, sinus problems, achronic illness, or even hair.

Whatever type of headache you are experiencing, it's worth looking first to your lifestyle for the answers, so this is where headache management starts.

Let's look at the solutions that can really improve your cramps!

1, Eating

On a busy day, we tend to forget to eat properly and on time. But when we investigate the cause of a headache, sometimes it's just because our blood sugar levels have dropped.

Have a cube of chocolate, a nice honey tea or some carbohydrates. But make sure you choose something healthy. These include dark chocolate, glucose or dried fruit. It's not worth cheating, so don't start eating pastries made from white flour, however tempting they may be. Contrary to popular belief, when blood sugar levels drop and you immediately start eating sugar, you're messing with your body's insulin balance... and your scale.

2, Drinking

The other simplest headache relief trick you can quickly use is to drink plenty of fluids, which everyone tends to forget. Yet, just like our whole body, a significant percentage of our brain is made up of water. A loss of fluid causes concentration problems, and a major water deficit causes headaches.

Make it a habit to drink two glasses of water with lemon or a few slices of ginger with your morning coffee. Magnesium and vitamin B intake can also help.

If low blood pressure is the cause of your headache, a good black can be a cure, and if it's stress and tension, a cup of hot peppermint tea with lemongrass can be the best headache reliever.

Speaking of herbal tea, Uncle Gyuri, the herbalist from the Bükk, swears by autumn marigold, which was used in Roman times to treat headaches. The medicinal properties are undoubted, but it is best used as a cure, not as a treatment for severe migraine headaches.

3, Massage, breathing and acupressure at home, simply

Massage and acupressure are also effective in relieving headaches. If the area around the eye socket is sore, the bridge of the nose should be squeezed for a few seconds and then released suddenly after applying strong pressure. For pain around the forehead and temples, pressing the forehead with the fingertips and massaging the temples in a circular motion can be a quick remedy for headaches, as can vigorous massage of the neck and occipital region.

And for a particularly shooting headache, press long and hard on the pad under the thumb. Since stiff neck and shoulders are common causes of headaches, you can also supplement the massage with hot air blown in with a hair dryer, the warm air loosens the muscles.

Here's afavourite you've probably never heard of!

Strange but effective hair pulling trick: finally a reason to tear your partner's hair with impunity! Grab the hair and pull hard for a few seconds, several times in a row. This is good for the blood circulation and takes away the pain.

A drop in oxygen in the blood can also cause headaches. Breathe deeply, holding your breath for 10 seconds and repeating several times in succession.

4, Fragrances

Some people rely on fragrance, and indeed some essential oils are very effective in relieving headaches. Put a few drops of peppermint or lavender oil on your index finger and rub it around your temples. After a short while, thebeneficial soothing, soothing and relaxing effects of the essential oils will start to show.

5, Scrub, inhalation, bath

A cold compress on the forehead or the back of the head is always very effective when looking for a quick remedy for a headache.

Sure tip: Scent your forehead with mint oil! Essential oils not only smell wonderful, they also have a number of positive effects, making headaches go away even more.

If compresses are not enough, inhalation or hot baths can be used: the hot steam dilates the blood vessels, which can quickly relieve the throbbing headache.
